Mindful New Year’s Resolutions

Updated: Jan 10, 2020

It's that time of the year again when everyone seems to be making New Year’s Resolutions about the person they wish to become in this brand new year. Mindful Little Things wants to help you make the most positive resolutions as you head into this new decade!

First, you are amazing just the way you are!

With that being said, we totally understand and support the need and want to work towards being your best self. So, instead of dropping a million expectations on yourself for January 2020, our suggestion is to introduce new goals to yourself and your family slowly. Start with one goal at a time, when you feel you have a handle on your new goal - introduce the next one! Introducing resolutions slowly can be a very mindful experience. It allows your goals to become more attainable, less stressful and it's more likely that you will be able to continue them over the long term.

At Mindful Little Things we love lists! If you're like us, then start your New Year's Resolution list right now! Write out all your resolutions, then review and determine where to start. We suggest starting with one that will be an easy addition or change to your life. As the weeks and months of this new year progress, you can work your way down your list. Remember to be kind to yourself when setting your goals, you want to be able to achieve them and not become frustrated with an impossible change. For some of these goals it may mean that you have to take multiple little steps to get to that ultimate big goal!

2020 is Your Year!

Here are some goals that we think will have you shining in 2020!

1. Read more books

2. Spend more time relaxing with family (Did someone say pyjama day?!)

3. Incorporate 30 minutes of physical activity each day (walks, stairs, weights or a good old game of tag!)

4. Try something new

5. Plan an adventure

Child friendly Goals for 2020!

Have a little one at home and want to involve them in making some fun and creative New Year's Resolutions? Here are some suggestions for child friendly goals:

1. Make the bed when I get up

2. Spend more time playing outdoors

3. Read more books

4. Try a new activity (Mindful Little Things offers play based yoga + mindfulness classes! Our play programs are a great new activity to introduce to your little!)

5. Limit screen time

New Year’s Resolutions don’t have to be about you becoming a new person, it can be about cultivating the best life for you and your loved ones!
